We LOVE trucks. We wanted others to ALSO love trucks, and maybe garbage.

What it does

It takes our love for TRUCKS, and disperses it into the internet where others can love it like we do.

How we built it

We started by accessing the SQL data file with the truck location information, sifting through is Microsoft SQL and converting to a CSV where we then parsed it with python. We then ran Javascript to load the data into a map. The map was a Google Maps API-created map, that we linked our "player" and trucks into for the game we created. We also used R to plot the paths and routes the trucks take on a daily basis.

Challenges we ran into

Dealing with ghosting from breadcrumbs in the SQL database, as well as using geolocation to detect collision between the user and the trucks. Further, updating and redrawing sprites was an issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

None of us are web developers and none of us have ever built a website as complex as this one.

What we learned

Javascript is super neat! We DEFINITELY plan on using it more in the future.
