Inspiration
We were inspired to help people find the perfect hackathon teammates, who matched their interests and skills.
What it does
Using a match-making algorithm, it searches for other profiles with the best match of all the things in a perfect hackathon teammate, their interests, their skills, the teammate that makes up for weaknesses and compliments strengths.
How we built it
We used React, Fast API, and PostgreSQL to code the project. We collaborated heavily on finetuning the algorithm and user experience to make sure the app could find viable partners. Quickly iterating over the design as a team helped to do this.
Challenges we ran into
There were a lot of issues tuning the algorithm in order to search for the best partners and give relevant matches. As well as this, we had to fill in our own shortcomings with web development as we sorted out the kinks with the front/backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Easy to deploy with docker compose, React frontend, FastAPI backend, PostSQL database.
What we learned
Rode the learning curve to react and PostgreSQL, some of us had previous web development experience but all of us had to polish our skills, we learned how to use React, Fast API, and PostgreSQL. Learnd a big lesson on what to do and what not to do with full-stack development.
What's next for HackrMatch
Our dream features: Autofill skills, interests, and experience with AI summary of resume Messaging functionality Broader audience, not just hackathons but class and personal projects.
