We built HackResume AI Pro, an advanced AI-powered resume analyzer designed to help students and professionals craft job-winning resumes. The inspiration came from the struggle many of us face with ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) and recruiter shortlisting. Traditional resume feedback tools often feel too generic, so we wanted to create something smarter, faster, and truly personalized.
Our journey taught us how to integrate LLMs (Large Language Models) with resume parsing libraries while balancing accuracy, speed, and UI design. We also had to solve tricky challenges like handling different resume formats (PDF, DOCX), ensuring secure data processing, and giving actionable suggestions instead of generic tips.
Challenges we faced:
• Handling inconsistent resume formats (broken PDFs, missing text).
• Managing API limits while keeping the tool responsive.
• Building a UI that feels professional yet friendly.
• Optimizing AI prompts to generate precise and recruiter-style feedback.
