Inspiration
Under the serious condition of worldwide COVID-19, people started performing social-distancing while some still hang out with friends. In this case, we attempted to build an app that can inform people of the latest information as well as encourage them to stay home and create interaction with people by keeping track of people's time staying home (Inspired by Zenly).
Progress
We finished part of the UI and most of the backend server. We scraped data with BeautifulSoup in Python, stored data in MongoDB, built UI with HTML/CSS as well as JavaScript. We also included Google Map's API to provide a geographical map.
Challenges
We've encountered unfamiliarity with technologies and skills such as connecting the front and back end. We had ideas and only started forming up a team in early April, and one of us quit the project in early April due to personal issues, which led us to add find another person, which cost a certain amount of time. Moreover, all of us experienced social-distancing and online education at our places, which did not yield to efficient communications or enough time to finish the project.
