Program: Scheme: This program is a two (or more hopefully) player game that will, eventually, be played over two mobile devices. It involves randomly spawning fish on either side of a twenty by twenty map (each full viewing screen is 1 unit of the map). The map contains randomly spawned large maze like tiles that cannot be entered by the player. The player interacts with the fish entering from each side by trying to eat them or avoid them. The player’s goal is to eat enough fish to be larger than the other players. That player then will go hunting for the other player. Currently it is only on one screen but it should be more tense and unpredictable on two separate screens.

Future hopes: We hope to add different modes such as:

  1. Survival Mode- Endurance game to see which player can last the longest as more predatory fish appear. Other elements that an actual ocean has will be added such as currents to drag the players in a specific direction or even garbage floating in the water the can have adverse effects on the player. It would be interesting to also add items that help or harm other players as well. Such as a special “bubble” that causes other player’s controls to reverse or their viewing screen to shrink.

  2. Arcade mode- classic idea of get points (eat fish) and survive.

  3. Partner mode- two (or more) players try to defeat a “boss” fish by biting off smaller pieces until one or the other is large enough to eat what is left of the boss.

  4. Catch- one fish has the power to leave barriers that other players cannot pass through and the goal of the fish with this ability is to entrap the other players. The catch is, the one fish with the power has either a limited amount of barriers or a limited amount of time.

Basic improvements: We would like to add diagonal movement options that would allow the player to move in practically any direction. We also would have loved to have added some better graphics. A subtle but cool improvement that we had planned but did not have time for was to have the player’s fish accelerate to a specific velocity when they start moving and slow down to a stop after they let go of the key. We would also have loved to have added sounds that would improve the fun of the game as well as music. Preferably an original soundtrack that we could have compose ourselves or hired a friend to make.
