🚀 Project Story: HackoSquad

HackoSquad is a cybersecurity training platform I've been dreaming about for months. The idea was always with me — a place where people could sharpen real-world offensive and defensive skills through hands-on labs, red vs blue team simulations, and CTF-style challenges.

💡 What Inspired Me

I wanted to build something meaningful that merges learning with practical application in a fun, gamified way. But when I first tried to start this project with traditional coding, I quickly realized that my programming knowledge wasn't deep enough at the time. Progress was slow, and the idea had to wait. Then I discovered the Bolt Hackathon, and it felt like the perfect opportunity to bring HackoSquad to life and showcase it to top people in the industry. I believed in the potential of this project and knew it could be something big with the right push.

🔨 How I Built It

I began by creating a high-level design — listing out all the features I wanted to implement within the 30-day hackathon window. I tackled it prompt by prompt, focusing on one feature at a time.

This approach not only helped me build the project efficiently but also taught me a lot:

  • Learned to use Supabase for backend and authentication.
  • Understood React.js better for building the frontend.
  • Solved complex bugs by improving my prompt engineering skills.
  • Learned database structuring and how to manage real-time queries.

⚠️ Challenges I Faced

The biggest challenge was the size and scale of the project. It was too large for a typical hackathon, and I frequently ran into size limit errors, especially when saving or deploying components.

Despite that, I pushed through. And thankfully, by the time those limitations appeared, the core parts of the project were already built.

🎯 Outcome

HackoSquad is not 100% complete yet — because it's a large-scale project that needs more time. But thanks to Bolt, I managed to do 3-4 months’ worth of work in just 25–26 days using focused learning and prompting.

🙏 Final Note

This hackathon gave me more than just a platform to showcase HackoSquad — it gave me the skills, confidence, and momentum to keep building. I'm incredibly grateful for the experience.
