Inspiration
The inspiration for this challenge was to deploy an app to assist hackathon participants, especially during COVID. With HackOrganized
What it does
Through the tabs Home, TeamBuilder, BrainStorm, Project Details, Assignments, Current Work, and Resources, hackers are able to plan and organize their projects.
How we built it
We created a web app using react on Visual Studio Code, and through Firebase, we gave authentication to our users. We also created a chat room for hacker teams to collaborate in a realtime database.
Challenges we ran into
Melika: As a freshman, I lacked experience with react. Moreover, due to current COVID situations, I had to work on a Mac for the first time. Being able to figure out git commands and being able to upload to GitHub was a struggle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of having a fully connected firebase backend that shows user-IDs and attributes. Moreover, being able to put users in a virtual chat room and sync pages across the team member users was very exciting.
What we learned
We learned how to set-up a backend using firebase and store data from the user input.
What's next for HackOrganized
The next step for HackOrganized is to create an account page where participants may have profile pictures. Moreover, we could add more hackathon complimentary tips/assisting pages.
