Inspiration
CapitalOne's Nessie API offers many financial data.
What it does
A CapitalOne customer can vizualize on Google Maps the merchants we purchased from. A merchant is shown on the map as a coloured circle. The bigger the circle, the more money the customer spent at that merchant.
How we built it
We wanted to get our hands on the DJango framework, so that was our starting point. We split on front-end and back-end development.
Challenges we ran into
Connecting Nessie API to Django and then to Google Maps Javascript API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an useful app
What we learned
A bit of Django and Python
What's next for CapitalOne-WhereMyMoneyAt?
The project can be extended: Add a time scale; Different colours for different merchants(maybe based on number of purchases from that merchant?) Add tags to show the merchant's name and the total amount of money spent
