Inspiration
MHacks VI is my first Hackathon and I was very lucky to spend it with my good friend, jo. Together we stayed focused, gathered all swag in tshirt form and avoided distractions such as sleep and internet memes.
What it does
It's a simple iOS game, played similarly to Flappy Bird. Avoid all time-wasting / distracting items (bed, internet memes, and the snorlax) while trying to collect as much tshirt swag from the MHacks VI sponsors!
How I built it
I built it in Swift using iOS' sprite-kit.
Challenges I ran into
Most information regarding iOS development online is in Objective-C, so I had to spend some time attempting to translate between the two (though I've never programmed in Obj-C, I did my best given my experience with C/C++).
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
That I was able to finish! I came in thinking I would create a web-app, but felt motivated after a 3am presentation on iOS development from one of the Apple engineers.
What I learned
Mobile dev is fun!
What's next for Hacknight with jo
This was jo and my's first experience at a Hackathon, so next time I think we'll spend more focused on incorporating one of the sponsors' APIs into our app (whether web or mobile).
