HackMitMia

Inspiration:

The inspiration for our solution, HackMitMia, stemmed from the growing demand for easily consumable and engaging news content across different age groups. We aimed to address the challenges of information overload and cater to the diverse preferences of kids, teens, and adults by leveraging automation and creative content generation techniques.

What it does:

HackMitMia is a comprehensive content/news generation tool that automates the entire process from article summarization to video creation. It tailors content for kids, teens, and adults through distinct presentation styles.

For kids, we introduce a charming cartoon character that reads out the script in a lively and engaging manner.
For teens, we create TikTok-style videos with embedded gameplay elements to ensure attention-grabbing content.
For adults, we utilize deepfake technology to seamlessly integrate the script into a video, presenting it as if delivered by a well-known and trusted news journalist.

It considers generational differences in language usage, slang, values, and perspectives, fostering a connection between individuals and the news that resonates with their personal narratives.

How we built it:

We built HackMitMia by combining cutting-edge technologies in natural language and video processing, deepfake synthesis, and modern prompt engineering techniques. The tool employs algorithms for article summarization, script generation, and content personalization based on the target audience. The cartoon character, TikTok-style videos, and deepfake segments are created using state-of-the-art animation and video editing tools.

Challenges we ran into:

While developing HackMitMia, we faced challenges in perfecting the deepfake technology to ensure a realistic and convincing presentation. Additionally, tailoring content for specific age groups required careful consideration of language, tone, and presentation styles to strike the right balance between engagement and informativeness.

Successfully integrated various technologies to create a versatile and user-friendly solution that addresses the specific needs of different demographic segments. The ability to automate the entire content creation process and provide a tailored experience for kids, teens, and adults is a significant achievement.

What we learned:

Throughout the development of HackMitMia, we learned about new technologies in generative AI - both speech and image processing.

The project highlighted the enormous potential this technology can bring with content engagement. We also found that for younger children, more visualization is needed and less technical talk about the news. Moreover, ethical considerations need to be acknowledged with deepfake technology and the need for responsible use in the media industry.

What's next for HackMitMia:

Moving forward, we aim to refine and expand HackMitMia by incorporating user feedback and continuously improving the deepfake technology for a more seamless and realistic experience. We also plan to explore additional customization options and features to enhance the overall user experience.
