Inspiration

We are a team of two Civil Engineers, One Electrical Engineer, One Computer Science, so we decided to put our skills to use and come up something that best represents each of our unique interests. Artificial Intelligence and Road Construction to create a focused web application on reporting road-damage with fewer clicks, RoadScout.

What it does

RoadScout is road-damage reporting web platform powered by on AI image classifier and Gemini. Users take a photo of pothole or piece of damage road and the AI classifies it by severity, type and geocodes the address and the report is pinned to the map.

How we built it

Frontend & Core Backend: Next.js Database: MongoDB. Machine Learning: PyTorch Additional AI: Gemini API.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges was getting our routing with MongoDB configured and getting a large AI model training with the pressure of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of successfully being able to use our diverse academic backgrounds to build a complete product

What we learned

A little bit more about each of our major as well as new frameworks and technologies.

What's next for RoadScout

Our first hackathon has us fired up for our next "RoadScout." We are excited for what the next future hackathon will be like.
