Inspiration:
Lack of free resources to learn in-demand industry oriented coding skills. Youtube has many tutorials to learn coding skills but all the tutorials are scattered. We felt the need of an app that has all the resources at one place making it more accessible to learn web development, data science, AI & machine learning and languages like Java, python, C++, etc.
What it does:
The app has a collection of tutorials that will help you learn in-demand skills like web development, data science, AI & machine learning and languages like Java, python, C++, etc for free
How we built it:
We built it in android studio using java language for backend and xml for frontend. We collected all the resources from YouTube, then we designed the app's frontend, and then worked on the backend to get it all together.
- Created a appealing home-screen design
- Created multiple screens to host courses.
- Embedded Youtube videos
Challenges we ran into
Initially we developed the app with a very simple frontend design but later we created a more appealing design to ease out the use of this app.
- Creating a scrolling view
- Connecting multiple screens of app using intents.
- Updating the homescreen design.
- Embedding YouTube videos in XML.
- Communicating virtually due to pandemic and implementing solutions was a difficult task.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to create an app that will help students learn and improve their skillset free of cost.
We found a problem in education track and developed a fully functioning app as a solution and all this in 48 hours.
What we learned
We learned the concepts of android app development.
- Building Home Screen in android studio using java
- Creating multiscreen apps using intent
- Embedding YouTube videos
What's next for Hackitout - Learn coding for free
Adding more advanced features like login and signup, resuming the courses, sharing features, and save videos for later use, etc.
