Inspiration

We wanted to help more people make progress toward their goals and build confidence by creating a product they would genuinely want to use.

What it does

HackHabit is an iOS digital-pet app built around Screen Time. Doomscrolling lowers the pet’s health, while quiet time and daily challenges help it recover. Each completed challenge restores 10 health points, up to 100. Users can spend coins on furniture to decorate their pet’s space. The “Treat Jar” is a sandbox RevenueCat purchase that demonstrates the coin-purchase loop without charging real money.

How we built it

We built HackHabit around a loop that connects Screen Time to the pet’s health, gives users daily challenges to help the pet recover, and lets them personalize its space with furniture. The demo guide walks through the experience on a physical iPhone.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was making the interface feel smooth and creating a product people would want to return to. We had to think about the overall feel of the experience, not just which features to add.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a connected experience that brings together Screen Time, pet care, daily challenges, personalization, and a sandbox purchase demo.

What we learned

In the AI era, we believe polished, fluid animation and strong visual judgment can matter far more than simply stacking on more features.

What's next for HackHabit

We plan to keep refining the UI, focusing on smoother interactions and a more inviting experience that encourages people to keep working toward their goals.
