Inspiration

We were inspired to create Hackgenic after we were having trouble deciding on what project we should make for this hackathon. With multiple members with such different experiences, skills, and interests, it's sometimes hard to find commonalities and decide on a project that everyone agrees on. It can be very difficult to choose a project, and when faced with a completely blank sheet of paper, many people find that they need a few preliminary ideas to bounce off of.

What it does

That's why we built Hackgenic. This is the perfect app to help you choose a project to create, as it asks for input on your interests, any preferred languages or frameworks, and some demographic information to provide you with multiple project ideas sure to fit your needs and interests.

How we built it

We built Hackgenic using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into included issues with styling, keeping webpages and code files organized, and combining all of our skills and abilities to create the final product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

That being said, we are proud of how much we've learned about both the concepts we used throughout the project, as well as the project-making process in general, and all the skills that we have gained throughout the hackathon.

What we learned

We learned more about using web-development to create quizzes, take user input, and create an algorithm to output potential project ideas.

What's next for Hackgenic

Although we were confined by tight time constraints during the hackathon, we had great plans for Hackgenic. In the future, we would like to integrate web scraping to provide users with a neverending supply of potential ideas and to provide a greater range of possibilities to our users.
