Inspiration
Each team member has a background in foundry/industrial work, and with this work requires hours of basic safety training. This training consists of videos, paperwork, and unremarkable/unrememberable tests that do not translate to the floor or the offices. This inspired us to make an eye-catching, interactive version accessible to all ages.
What it does
This is a web-page that gives three options as you step into your shift, "Choose your training". This allows the user to chose between a Lockout checklist, a forklift inspection interaction, or a machine safety game. Including interactive "mini-games" in the starting webpage for short safety fundamentals.
How we built it
With the help of Visual Studio Code's Copilot we divided the work between languages and goals. We split focus importing images and text, connecting JavaScript to a functional website, and ensuring the interface is all-ages user friendly.
Challenges we ran into
GitHub repository connection, mismatched variables and file names, embedding the JavaScript code into the HTML.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Coming together with a short amount of time, agreeing on a plan, and jumping right to action.
What we learned
The connections between HTML and JavaScript, timed events, audio files, and how to use GitHub.
What's next for HackGB Industrial Safety Interactive Website
Creating more safety checklist options, refining checklists we have implemented, and furthering the accessibility for all ages.
