Inspiration

Climate change is a legitimate issue within our modern day society as know. Though we have made great strides it should be noted that we are consuming more than we produce. Our team recognized that in the future generations to come, if attitudes remain unchanged, we could possibly damage our planet beyond repair.

What it does

Our website informs people of the large negative impact people have on the world through statistics and images before incentivizing activism in local communities through volunteering and donations.

Challenges we ran into

We found it extremely difficult to manage our time with the 6 hours we had to work on the project while understanding how far we should take the project. It was difficult going into the project by coming up with a website design that could inform viewers and actively give them the call to action to participate in preserving our world for future generations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Minimalistic design that maintains being informational

What we learned

We learned that we could be true social activists that could impact our community through coding. Coding has brought a connection to societal issues and us, and has shown us to put in a lot of work to assert a proper solution to this UN issue. Our first project has come out to be a perilous journey because of the amount of concentration and time commitment required to finish this project, and the coordination needed to efficiently adapt to changes and new ideas.

What's next for HackFTW - Climate Action - Caleb Lee and Matthew Xu

We plan to become real activists within our community through coding. Although our first hackathon has shown that working efficiently for 6 hours straight could be unbearably exhausting, we also choose to continue participating in recognition to address real issues in our world.
