Inspiration
COVID-19 has had it hard for us to communicate with others despite having many social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. For instance, a survey conducted and lead by Horigian on 1008 people aged 18-35 reported that 80% of the participants faced some form of depression during the pandemic. Therefore, there is a need for us to find new innovative ways to revolutionize communication.
What it does
HackersUnited(014) introduced to you guys SocialTravellers which is a python telegram bot that aims to encourage communication among people of similar interests. It uses simple chat features and gamification gamified to promote chatting over the internet which can form new relationships and also maintain them. SocialTraveller will match users with similar interests into groups of five. Each group would last for a day and the user will be removed from the group. The users will then be invited into a new group to meet new people every day.
How we built it
We used python and telegram libraries.

We have difficulties in debugging the bot.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to get most of the features of the bot working.

Using Notion for team development as a form of software engineering practice.
What's next for HackersUnited(014)
We plan to add more gamification features, fix bugs, and expand our bot to support a larger database.
