HackerShares
Inspiration
The cybersecurity world is full of talent — but scattered. As a security professional, I noticed how fragmented our resources are. We have to juggle between platforms for networking, buying tools, sharing knowledge, hosting sessions, or selling courses. There wasn’t a unified space built specifically for ethical hackers, AppSec engineers, and cyber enthusiasts to learn, share, and earn — all under one roof.
So I decided to build it.
What it does
HackerShares is an all-in-one digital ecosystem for cybersecurity professionals. It brings together:
- A social network for hackers and security engineers
- A live streaming hub for hosting discussions and Q&As
- A course platform for sharing and monetizing knowledge
- A vetted marketplace to buy and sell scripts, tools, and automation securely
It’s a place to connect, grow, and thrive as a hacker — whether you're learning, teaching, or building tools for others.
How we built it
HackerShares was built using:
- Bolt as the frontend framework (React + Tailwind + TypeScript)
- Firebase for authentication and real-time Firestore database for marketplace file uploads and transaction handling
- Stripe integration for payment processing (coming soon)
User auth, profile types (buyer/seller), route protection, and role approval workflows were all built by bolt in integration with firebase.
🧱 Challenges we ran into
- File Storage: Managing seller uploads securely with no upfront cloud budget
- Auth Integration: Making Firebase auth work seamlessly with custom forms
- Seller Approval Logic: Ensuring not just anyone can sell — building a manual approval system
- UX/UI Balance: Designing a modern UI that feels tech-forward but also trustworthy and scalable
- Payment & Compliance: Ensuring future payments can work legally (especially before company registration)
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Fully functional auth + role-based routing (buyer/seller separation)
- A polished UI with working post system and user feeds
- Custom logo and branding designed from scratch to reflect trust and luxury
- Smart security-focused rules for uploads and downloads
- Community vision that people already resonate with
📚 What we learned
- Building a full-stack SaaS platform solo pushes every skill — from design to dev to product thinking
- Firebase is powerful but limited without a billing plan for storage
- UX matters even more when the audience is technical
- Trust, moderation, and verification are non-negotiable in a cybersecurity marketplace
- Being scrappy and resourceful (like sending download links instead of building full infra)
🚀 What's next for HackerShares
- ✅ Finalize payment integration (Stripe or Razorpay)
- ✅ Automate seller onboarding with review queues
- ✅ Launch a curated marketplace with verified scripts and tools
- ✅ Add download-by-email system for safer file delivery
- ✅ Release podcast and YouTube series to drive education
- ✅ Register as an MSME and scale as a bootstrapped SaaS for hackers
HackerShares is not just a product — it's a mission to build the home for hackers. The Hacker's Den.
