I wanted to make an app for hackathons during a hackathon.

Over 300 students came to Citrus hacks this year. It is very hard coordinating an event with so many people, there were lines for food, and lines for checkin - so I implemented a scanning system to help the event organizers.

One huge pain point is finding a team. Many people form teams with people they knew prior to the event. Matching people based on ideas and skills was missing from the event. It's hard to talk to 300 people! So I made a tinder-style team building system that lets you search by skillsets.

There was a team building event, but I missed it! They posted the information on the slack but I got distracted, and ignored the announcements since events happen every hour. That's why I made a subscribe system.

Navigating around an unfamiliar campus ate up a lot of my time. I wish I had an interactive map to coordinate where food was, or where I could meet with potential team members. I put mapping as a feature in Hacker Helper.

Thank you for reading about my app! I built it with React Native for Android and iOS. It's easy to port to the web, and before wifi is available, and especially during checkin, a mobile application is more convenient.
