There are no easy and convenient ways for elderly citizens with risk of Alzheimer’s to be diagnosed early on. Medical tests can be used to look for changes in the brain, but a much easier way to diagnose Alzheimer’s is through neuropsychological tests. While there are multiple tests to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease, the MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment) is generally considered the gold standard. However, MoCA requires a visit to your primary care doctor, and the results can only be interpreted by the right healthcare professionals. This proves to be a major inconvenience, as many seniors avoid going to see their doctor, either in-person or virtually. And this is due to multiple reasons such as cost, the belief that they are perfectly fine, or the belief that doctors will not offer any real solutions. We wanted to tackle this aspect of senior care and create a way that will allow seniors to easily test themselves in their own homes, without the need to see a doctor.
