Hackathons

What it does

Provides an easy way to find where Hackathons are and which ones are close to you. It also find tweets close to a selected hackathon location.

How we built it

We utilized the mapping capabilities of Esri with the information about upcoming hackathons on MLH. We hosted this tool on a FreeBSD AWS instance running nodejs.

Challenges we ran into

Getting data to display on a map.

We hacked something together that is functional and useful.

What we learned

How to easily create geographic visualizations. We also gained more experience with Amazon Web Services.

What's next for Hacker Tracker

Filtering based on distance and location.
