Browsing Hacker News often requires users to open multiple external links in new tabs to read full articles, disrupting the flow of exploration and making the experience cumbersome. To address this challenge, I developed a Chrome extension that integrates directly into the Hacker News interface to provide AI-generated summaries of new articles — all without leaving the page.
Powered by Chrome’s built-in AI (Prompt API), the extension automatically extracts and condenses key insights from each article, allowing users to grasp the essence of a story in seconds. This streamlines content discovery, enhances productivity, and enables more efficient decision-making about which articles are worth a deeper read.
The extension is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, following Chrome’s Manifest V3 architecture. The project focuses on clean design, fast performance, and seamless integration with Hacker News, delivering a smooth and intuitive user experience.
