Inspiration
During days when it is extremely cold, there will be fog on people's glasses. So, we developed an invention to get rid of the fog as well as potentially other things that may disturb someone's view.
What it does
So far, what we have what look like windshield wipers that are mounted on ski googles. They are able to wipe the inside of the ski goggles to get rid of anything that might obstruct one's view.
How we built it
We used an Arduino Uno and connected 2 servos. We then cut a hole onto the top of . After uploading the Arduino program onto the Uno's memory, we connect a 9V battery to power the Arduino program.
Challenges we ran into
Most of the challenges we ran into were from mounting the wipers onto the goggles. The first challenge was securing the servos in place. However, when the googles did manage to get secured, the second challenge was that the wipers were not actually touching the goggles, so nothing was actually getting wiped. When we managed to get the wipers to touch the goggles however, the servos were touching the goggles as well. As a result, it was struggling to turn and was not achieving its full motion, and it was wriggling a lot. So, we had to balance between securing the servos while also have effective turning on the servos.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We actually managed to complete the software side of Arduino relatively quickly. Despite the challenge of mounting the wipers onto the goggles, we actually managed to mount it while also having the wipers wipe a majority of the goggles.
What we learned
We learned the software and hardware side of creating an Arduino project.
