HackBot

Inspiration

Our team members each use Discord in our everyday lives, so we wanted to see what it would take to create a Discord bot.

What it does

Our bot, "HackBot," has three basic commands: +blackjack, where it plays a game of beat the dealer blackjack; +alarm "" "", where at the specified time, it will message the chat to title of the alarm; and +meme, where it sends a random meme from a specified meme database.</p> <h2 id="how-we-built-it">How we built it</h2> <p>We built HackBot using C# in VisualStudio.</p> <h2 id="challenges-we-ran-into">Challenges we ran into</h2> <p>We struggled with reading and implementing Discord API, and ran into many syntax and logic errors from using code that was foreign to us.</p> <h2 id="accomplishments-that-were-proud-of">Accomplishments that we're proud of</h2> <p>We are proud of the fact that we learned to use Discord API to host a Discord bot.</p> <h2 id="what-we-learned">What we learned</h2> <p>We learned how to read and implement foreign API.</p> <h2 id="whats-next-for-hackbot">What's next for HackBot</h2> <p>Implement more usable commands. We intend to use HackBot, so we will continue to implement useful commands and hope to learn more about the Discord API.</p>
