Inspiration
The new generation of autonomous car technology provided us with many ideas. Our primary one was to reduce CO2 emission by reducing energy consumption while still utilizing the potential of driverless cars to its limits.
What it does
It is a car pooling platform, that tries to schedule trips in a manner such that the driven kilometers per person (also including the travel distance to and from a person) are being minimized. While doing that it offers the opportunity to merge trips with multiple cars into trips with only a single car.
How we built it
We provide a rudimentary FrontEnd in React, that feeds trips into our BackEnd, the TripScheduler. The BackEnd is built using Kotlin and its countless libraries. In order to schedule trips we use Google APIs.
Challenges we ran into
Finding the best route. (The usual fun with FrontEnd developement.)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to find a suitable algorithm that finds a viable solution most of the times.
What we learned
The time limit is even harder than it seems.
What's next for Hackatum2021 Sixt
Hopefully another great challenge : D
