Inspiration
In the fast-paced environment of hackathons, the need for seamless collaboration and efficient communication is key. This inspired us to create a unified platform designed to streamline the hackathon experience, bring together the best elements of Discord and DevPost. This integrated approach allows participants to channel their focus towards creating, collaborating, and innovating.
What it does
Our website provides a unified location for users to seamlessly log in, create teams, submit projects, and engage in real-time chat interactions, fostering a cohesive and efficient hackathon experience.
How we built it
The website was implemented using the Django framework with Python for back-end development and html/bootstrap for the front-end user interface.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout the hackathon we have experienced many problems which require extensive debugging. Furthermore, two team members were unfamiliar with the Django framework and how to build the front end of the application, requiring additional time spent learning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of successfully integrating chat and project submission functionalities in one platform and overcoming the learning curve associated with Django and front-end development.
What we learned
We gained valuable experience in full-stack development, particularly in using Django and Bootstrap. We also developed a deeper understanding of the needs and challenges faced in hackathon management.
What's next for Hackathon website
We believe our website good potential to improve. We would like to enhance the project submission process with more tools for collaboration and feedback as well as the user interference
