Inspiration
Inspired by the long queue to get into the Hackathon this morning, we wanted to make a more streamlined approach.
What it does
Currently, it reads from a CSV file of students, and then the GUI allows students to either sign-in with existing IDs or sign-up if they have not yet done so.
How we built it
We split up into different tasks - Eliot and Sher built the classes, Justin built the networking and helped out with classes, and Riley build the GUI.
Challenges we ran into
We're all still new to C++, so it was fun and challenging learning how to properly use it, especially weird syntax bugs that we'd never thought of before.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're glad that we were able to get a functional demo out within a day, and while it's definitely not complete, it's a good starting point to improve on.
What we learned
We learned more about classes, inheritance, QT, and having fun.
What's next for Hackathon Sign-In Service
Finish implementing writeList, figure out networking, add more fields such as CPTS level, Hackathon tier, etc. to be fully in-line with the official Google Form, clean up messy code.
