Inspiration
Trivia Town app is inspired by our love of classic trivia games! What can be better than a game that keeps you laughing, guessing, and messing around with the software you usually use for work!
What makes this game app different? You do! Every person in your Trivia Party gets to pre-record a carefully curated classic, quirky, or foodie-licious trivia question that is then added to your Trivia Party. Keep it classy or really have fun with it - it’s up to you!
Challenges
We hope you enjoy Trivia Town as much as we enjoyed making it! We ran into a few minor challenges that helped us grow as a team by finding creative solutions to make our app idea better and to make Trivia Town more sustainable as a game that uses multiple technologies and platforms. We wanted to make sure that Trivia Town app users have everything they need for a successful and streamlined experience. Keeping the instructions clear yet detailed, especially for the Trivia Party host management page and Question Recording Page, was key in helping us achieve this goal.
Accomplishments
Trivia Town app is a completely self-sustaining game made from scratch that is ready for deployment! We are really proud of how we were able to take a classic trivia game and make it into an interactive and personalized experience for everyone to enjoy. Part of our strategy was to think about the elements we love most about trivia games. As such, we took a lot of care to develop a detailed Trivia Questions dataset, where every question was inspected and updated to reflect the whimsical and inclusive nature of Trivia Town.
Lessons Learned
One of the key lessons that came out of the increased use of video sharing and video recording software is that they need to support a sense of community within its users. That’s not an easy task! To successfully implement work apps for team-building or outside-work activities, the apps need to re-imagine their functions as approachable and fun. We are thankful to the Loom hackathon for inspiring us to consider how we can re-introduce the sense of joy and familiar whimsical dimension of in-person trivia games! That’s probably our main takeaway!
What’s Next for Trivia Town
We would love to take Trivia Town to the next level by building the user test base. Once we have a chance to hear more structured feedback we plan to update the UX interface to reflect it. Next stop? Trivia Town Central!
