Inspiration

I wanted to build something that captures the pulse of internet culture in a sleek, professional, and addictive way. Everyone wants to stay relevant, but it's overwhelming to check multiple platforms like TikTok, Reddit, and X. “What’s Poppin?” is our solution — a real-time radar for trends, built with minimalist aesthetics and subtle animations to keep it clean, fast, and engaging.

What it does

“What’s Poppin?” is a web-based trend dashboard that shows what’s currently buzzing across popular platforms. It displays a curated feed of trends sorted by category and source, featuring bold headlines, quick summaries, and a trend “heat score.” Users can filter by topic or platform, all within a responsive, animated interface built for mobile and desktop.

How we built it

I used the bolt.new one-shot prompt to generate the foundation of the site. The front-end is styled using Tailwind CSS to support a monochrome palette with neon accent colors, and animations were added via Framer Motion. Content is currently mocked but structured to support dynamic data. The design emphasizes clean layout, bold typography, and a smooth user experience throughout.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing minimalism with visual excitement Implementing smooth animations without breaking responsiveness Designing a UI that feels trendy and professional at the same time Crafting meaningful content with mocked data that still feels real and timely

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a visually polished, responsive site in a single one-shot prompt Achieved a balance between aesthetic simplicity and modern flair Built something that feels genuinely usable and timely for a large demographic Demonstrated how powerful and specific prompt design can result in impressive builds

What we learned

How to harness the full potential of one-shot prompts with precise design and function goals The power of minimal color use to drive visual hierarchy and brand identity How micro-interactions (like text transitions and subtle hover effects) can enhance UX massively

What's next for Hackathon one-shot website

integrate live trend data APIs from platforms like Reddit or TikTok Add a user-customized trend feed based on interest profiles Launch a mobile app version Explore embedding AI summaries and daily trend briefings Possibly develop a widget version for creators to embed on their own sites
