Tanda

Inspiration

We were inspired by the image of a working parent trying to balance life’s essentials while caring for both their children and their aging parents. A key pain point we identified was the need to ensure parents are set up for retirement while also proactively teaching the younger generation how to save in a way that is effective, culturally relevant, and organized.

What it does

Tanda is a fintech product that modernizes the traditional tanda—a community lending circle common in Hispanic and Latin American cultures. It brings older generations into the digital age through a culturally familiar system while also serving as an entry point for broader financial education. Kids learn alongside their grandparents, gaining exposure to culturally rooted financial tools and building early saving habits.

How we built it

We built both the frontend and backend using Lovable, drawing direct inspiration from traditional lending circles and reimagining them as a digital experience that works for multigenerational households.

Challenges we ran into

• Translating a deeply cultural, trust-based system into a digital product without losing authenticity
• Designing a platform that feels accessible to older users while still appealing to younger generations
• Integrating education seamlessly into the user experience without making it feel transactional

What we learned

We learned how important cultural context is when designing financial products. We also gained insight into the needs of multigenerational users and the responsibility that comes with digitizing community-based financial systems.

What's next for Tanda

Next on the product roadmap is expanding partnership integrations to broaden access, strengthen financial education components, and enhance the overall user experience.
