Inspiration

The idea for the Hackathon Finder App came from my personal experience as a developer who enjoys participating in hackathons. I noticed that finding suitable hackathons often meant searching through many different websites, keeping track of deadlines manually, and struggling to come up with project ideas under time pressure. I wanted to create something that makes this process easier and helps more people, especially students and beginners, confidently take part in hackathons.

What I Learned

While building this project, I learned a lot about combining AI with real-world applications. I improved my skills in frontend and backend development, API integration, and designing features that are actually useful for users. I also learned how important user experience is when building tools meant to save time and reduce confusion.

How I Built It

I built the app using React Native for the frontend and Node.js for the backend. Hackathon information is organized into a simple and searchable interface. I integrated the Google Gemini API to power the AI idea generator and assistant, allowing users to receive project ideas and preparation guidance based on their skills and hackathon themes.

Challenges Faced

One of the biggest challenges was making sure the AI suggestions were practical and relevant instead of generic. Managing API responses and keeping the app fast and simple were also challenging, but solving these problems helped improve the overall quality of the project.
