Inspiration

Since the pandemic has started, I have read many articles about people who do not believe the virus is real, or articles about how many people will refuse a vaccine even if a free one is released by the government. Hopefully, if people are able to recognize the danger of the virus and take proper precautions to ensure the safety of themselves and the people around them, we can get this virus under control.

What it does

I have created a website that contains statistics regarding the number of positive cases, the percent of positive tests, and how many people are currently hospitalized. This data is updated daily. It also has a list of symptoms with the severity of the symptom that updates daily. The symptom severity allows people to see if they need emergency care.

How I built it

Challenges I ran into

CSS not linking, file system incorrect, initializing flask, APIs not linking I overcame these complications by reading a lot of articles on my issues, and the official documentation In the future, I would have read the documentation first before coding, as I had to go back and correct a lot of my errors.

What's next for hackathon

In the future, I would like to add more information that simplifies complicated scientific articles into a page sorted by date and relativity. Also, I want to scale this site to worldwide and add in more verified sources of data. I wanted to add a symptom tracker that upon the user answering a few questions can diagnose the user or allow them to seek care. I also wanted to implement a page where one can see their specific city’s or county’s guidelines and rate of transmission. I will market this product as a free website which has simple, accurate, and up to date information.
