We use data collected in the implementation of the 'Greener, Greater Buildings Plan' laws to analyse the compliance of existing and upcoming buildings to building emissions caps.
We were inspired by our surrounding - we live in Manhattan where some of the greatest skyscrappers on earth are
Our project therefore paid special attention to characteristics of buildings in determining their emissions, in particular factors such as height and size
We made various regression models, including KNN, OLS, Ridge, and Lasso. We also created a logistic regression model as variables were both numerical and categorical. This helped predict if buildings will meet the goals set by New York's Local Law 97 to reduce Carbon Emissions by 40% by 2030
We have created a way to evaluate buldings' progress in meeting emissions target limits
NYC buildings in general, but particularly larger and taller buildings are either reluctant or unable to meet building emissions limits.
