Inspiration

The complicated challenges of declaring a line between our right to privacy and our desire to further develop scientific breakthroughs. Genetic privacy and scientific progressions outline a world of possibilities, possibilities we wanted to challenge.

What it does

Demonstrates a conversation between theoretical privacy and theoretical pro-science and how they clash between ethical points and necessary developments in our world to come.

How we built it

We created a script through Google Docs and built a 5-minute video through iMovie.

Challenges we ran into

Due to our enthusiasm, we had many ideas on the good and bad of both topics which we wanted to include in our original movie. However, due to the time restraints, we had to greatly cut down on the bigger conversation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our ability to narrow down important points in our arguments. We were able to build a dramatized version of our ideas as a team.

What we learned

There is a greater conversation between genetic privacy and scientific development. The different paths and possibilities which can occur on both sides of the conversation, both good and bad. At the end of the day, our information will always be out there.

What's next for Hackathon 2025

We hope to share our experiences to other individuals who were unable to come to Hackathon 2025 and to encourage anyone who were nervous to attend in 2026.
