H1: Inspiration
We were discussing how we would make the application more fun and motivating in order to encourage consistency. While we were doing that, I looked out my window and saw one of my trees blooming. This gave me the idea to make the process include taking care of a tree. I pitched the idea to my teammates, and that's how we got there.
H2: What our app does does
Our app simulates taking care of a plant/tree and intertwines it with a system that organizes goals in order to create a habit tracker that not only organizes schedules, but also encourages the user to be consistent with their schedule in a fun, game-like way.
H3: How we built it
We used three commands, goalAdd(), filterGoals(), and plant Update(), to base our system around. These function would adds the goals, organize them based on completion, and update the display plant that would symbolize the completed tasks and reward the user for completing them.
H4: Challenges we ran into
Since only one of us had the sufficient coding experience to make this app, and they had not used GitHub before, learning how to use it while also having most of the members no know much coding was a very difficult process.
H5: Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning how to use GitHub in only one day was a big accomplishment for us, especially when we had to use the different features like Flask.
H6: What we learned
We learned about how to use GitHub, as it was a new platform for all of us. It wasn't all technical though, as we also learned about the wide range of professions and how the fit in to the tech industry. We also learned about personal skills, like how to present.
# H7: What's next for LeafLife
If we had more time to work on this, we would've implemented a system that organized goals even more specifically, like long-term and short term goals, and we would also had included an optional withering effect if the user did not accomplish their goals for the day.
