Just a wireframe of it.
I would design a hack that would keep track of the expiry dates of food items bought and their expected shelf life and refrigeration life, customised to the individual. This minimises wastage since they don't buy more food than is necessary and their food doesn't spoil. It would ping the user when food has like a couple days until expiry or when is the estimated time they should use an item to reduce wastage.

Maybe in another hackathon I can flesh out this idea. With the time constraints this is all I came up with. Hope I can still get a point :'(
