Project Story: MoneyQuest
đź’ˇ About the Project
MoneyQuest is a gamified financial literacy platform that teaches money skills through play. Instead of reading static guides, users learn by making real-world choices—budgeting, paying loans, filing taxes, or investing—where each decision impacts a “financial health score.”
🚀 Inspiration
The project was inspired by seeing how many students and young adults feel overwhelmed by money management. Topics like credit, taxes, or inflation are often taught in complicated terms. We wanted to build something that makes these concepts fun, practical, and accessible.
📚 What We Learned
Breaking down complex financial ideas into simple, interactive modules.
Using gamification mechanics (quests, challenges, rewards) to sustain motivation.
Applying economic models like compound interest:
A = P \times \left(1 + \frac{r}{n}\right)^{nt}
to visualize how savings and investments grow.
🛠️ How We Built It
Frontend: Interactive quest-based UI.
Backend: Flask API powering scenarios and score tracking.
Database: Stores user progress and achievements.
Gamification Engine: Applies real financial rules to simulate outcomes.
⚡ Challenges We Faced
Translating financial jargon into clear, relatable language.
Balancing fun gameplay with realistic money lessons.
Designing scenarios that are authentic but not overwhelming for beginners.
