My inspiration was when I'm watching my favorites movies, such as Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Rocky, Godfather, etc. By seeing those films I imagine which were the top films of those times, because they literally are one of the best of all times!
What it does
At first, I wanted to display an super cool GUI, that you can search with decade or name, or IMDb raking what film you want to know about. But, with a lot of struggles and not much time, I was only able to create two Databases one with the ranking and another with name and year of launch.
How we built it
I took the IMDb Dataset and transformed into two databases by downloading the dataset and saving as an csv format, I was trying to join then together but, didn't work it on time! lol.
Challenges we ran into
At first, I've never worked with databases so it was a big challenge for me, so the hardcore of merging those databases was definetely the biggest challenge
Accomplishments that we're proud of
So by starting working for the first time with db, I was happy just to create and play a bit with sqlite3 and the SQL language.
What we learned
I learned that working with Databases is cool! even though I had a lot of struggle, but it's part of the hacking jorney!
What's next for Hack the Gold' Film days
I really want to finish that database and make an good GUI, could be an website, I don't know. Also I want to add songs with spotify API and make another ranking of best songs! (but more on that further in the future!)
