Inspiration

This past year as high school students has made us both realize the importance of being organized and being aware. We both have had our fair share of almost missing/missing deadlines and dealing with the consequences of not being organized. Knowing this is a problem that many other people around the world share we decided to create a scheduler program.

What it does

The user will sign up with an account or log in with an existing account and will be able to create and delete tasks on their schedule.

How we built it

We used Visual Studio Code to code the website using node.js and used an online database called MongoDB to store user data

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to use the MySQL database as we couldn't figure out how to connect it to our code. It was an error when we tried connecting to the database.

db.connect((err) =>{
if(err){
throw err;
}
Console.log('MySQL Connected');
});

After searching the web for a good 4 hours for a solution we still were unable to connect mysql to the website and gave up. As a result, we turned to alternative solutions and tried MongoDB database to store user data instead.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Made an appealing visually stunning front page

What we learned

We learned the challenges of implementing an online database into website design and learned how they work.

What's next for Hack the Cloud 2.0

Both of us thought this was a very fun experience and will plan to participate in many more hackathons like this one as this was both of ours first time doing something like this and we will.
