Hack Homelessness

Inspiration

We felt the need to make a difference in our community by changing the perspective on the topic of homelessness.

What it does

Mobile Application

The iOS app is a paged application build around the CoreLocation framework. The intent was to create a detailed geographic visualization of incidents occurred in the Dallas area with as simplistic of a design as possible. This is achieved on the first tab of the application where color codes represent the type of the incident.

Analyzing Data

The data displayed on the app is provided by the city of Dallas in the form of comma separated values. The data is then analyzed by our algorithm to formulate a severity level for each event by searches for key phrases, patterns and expressions.

Challenges we ran into

One of the first challenges we ran into was finding a platform to write our formula for calculating the severity of each incident.
