With fake news and misinformation becoming increasingly prominent, it is getting harder to distinguish facts from misleading political claims. Especially in the US, we have seen how politicians can make bold, sometimes false or misleading statements that spread rapidly through social media, often without proper fact-checking. This inspired us to ask: How can we use AI to make political claims more transparent and verifiable? Living in Switzerland, where direct democracy gives citizens a direct say in important political decisions, we believe access to trustworthy information is essential. That's why we're building an AI-powered system that checks political claims against official Swiss voting documents, providing clear, evidence-based assessments across multiple languages. Our motivation is simple: Political opinions should be free, but the facts behind them should be verifiable.
