Hack-A-Sand

We were inspired by the simple childhood experience of building sandcastles while knowing the tide would eventually wash them away. Our project explores that same idea of impermanence in a playful, interactive way. By allowing players to freely create while waves and natural disasters inevitably reshape their work, we wanted to highlight that the real joy isn’t in preserving what you build forever, but in the act of making it in the first place. The experience is meant to feel reflective rather than frustrating, encouraging players to embrace the temporary nature of their creations and find meaning in the process of building again and again.
