Inspiration
HabiTron was born from our imagination of combining habit tracking with the cutting-edge security of blockchain, making it not only useful but engaging. Inspired partly by the concepts in "Atomic Habits" by James Clear, we realized the power of small daily actions in shaping long-term success. We envisioned a tool where users could grow better habits, block by block, with the added motivation of a gamified garden and blockchain rewards.
What it does
HabiTron combines a monthly habit tracker, a to-do list, and a gamified garden feature to help users manage their daily tasks and build positive habits. Users can track progress, save their data securely on BTTC, and come back to grow a digital garden based on their achievements. The platform encourages consistency by visually tracking progress and offering a fun, interactive way to engage with their habits.
How we built it
-Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (styled using TailwindCSS and DaisyUI) -Blockchain: BTTC for decentralized habit and task data storage -MetaMask: Allows users to connect wallets and save data on BTTC -Smart Contracts: Solidity-based contracts to store habit data and manage the garden -Chart.js: Visualizes habit progress with dynamic charts
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we faced was integrating the blockchain for efficient data storage and retrieval on BTTC. We had to optimize the way habit data was stored to ensure that it was not only secure but also easily accessible. Additionally, maintaining a consistent and user-friendly interface across different features—such as the habit tracker, to-do list, and garden—was a complex task.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have successfully built and deployed the core features of HabiTron, including the habit tracker, to-do list, and interactive garden, all before our planned October 8th deadline. One of our key accomplishments was developing and integrating smart contracts on the BTTC, allowing for decentralized habit data storage.
What we learned
We learned a lot building HabiTron! Optimizing smart contracts for decentralized data storage was a fun challenge, and adding gamification—like growing a virtual garden—made habit tracking much more engaging. Most importantly, we found ways to keep the user experience simple while integrating blockchain features.
What's next for HabiTron
Milestone A: Leaderboards and Achievements / [10/10/2024 ↔ 30/10/2024] -Optimize performance, ensuring smooth interactions and scalability on BTTC -Refine UI/UX based on feedback, improving usability and responsiveness -Conduct beta testing with community and collect feedback for improvements Milestone B: User Feedback and Enhancements / [20/10/2024 ↔ 20/11/2024] -Introduce simple rewards for long-term habit completion -Enhance user progress tracking with visual updates and feedback -Implement achievement badges for reaching habit milestones
