Inspiration
New Year Resolutions Every year people abandon their New Year Resolutions by the end of the first month. We searched for ways to keep users engaged with their goals daily . We wanted to create an app that allowed all your resolutions to be accessible in one place. We also wanted to leave room to partner with brands on each resolution theme in order to incentivize users for varying levels of consistency. This latter part we were unable to implement because of the time limit
What it does
The app allows users to journal their goals, follow habit tracks, earn achievements and incentives and stay in touch with friends via direct messaging.
How we built it
This is our first hackathon and we are super new to coding. So instead of focusing on hard code we decided to use an app prototyping software called "JustInMind". We quickly realized there was a learning curve to get to the point where the very basic functionality of the app was presentable. These lessons will help in future hackathon processes.
Challenges we ran into
Every step was a challenge LOL. We are perfectionist and quickly realized we had to let go of the habits formed because of this because they prevented us from getting things done. We both had to learn a new skill. Prisila dove into graphic design to create our character Moti, the motivational personal assistant, as well as all our images and widgets. I had to learn to use an entirely new software called justinmind to learn how to prototype apps which was a lot more difficult than ahckathon youtubers make it seem.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Were proud to have done our first hackathon, especially to start the new year. Also of the new skills we hope to improve upon.
What we learned
We now have a good idea of the process we want to use to apporach future hackathons. We also learned the skills mentioned above.
What's next for Habitize App
We loved the idea so much that we will hopefull continue to develop it as a fun side project. Cant hurt to have it in code on a portfolio right? LOL
