Inspiration

Realizing that one of the largest downfalls of forming new habits is that there is a lack of accountability, we wanted to rectify that by creating a social platform which allows students to work together and keep each other accountable.

What it does

In the app, students can create tasks, sort of like reminders, for themselves, and each day, they mark the task complete when they accomplish it. Their friends can see when they’ve completed what tasks, which creates the accountability that motivates students to keep up their habits. Students can also join groups, for example a book club, where the admin of the group assigns a task, and the group completes that task together. Group members can see how many members in the group have completed the task, again adding to the accountability.

How we built it

The frontend of the application was built through Xcode, SwiftUI, and Swift. The backend was made with Typescript, MongoDB, Express.js, and Mongoose.

Challenges we ran into

Connecting the backend and frontend proved to be difficult, and although we weren't able to fully integrate both parts, we still have a functional application

What's next for Habitable

In the future, we plan on making our backend and frontend connection more robust, and expanding the app for more than just students.
