Inspiration
Thinking about the real consequences of NFTs and the blockchain on the cycle of life and death.
What it does
People with Zepp watches will upload a picture that they feel represents themselves in life and when they are gone. After they pass, the watch will detect this and the picture or message they select will be uploaded onto the blockchain as an NFT.
How we built it
Using the Zepp OS SDK to build the phone and watch apps, as well as pairing it with a web3 Javascript SDK and Solidity smart contract to allow us to communicate with the blockchain.
Challenges we ran into and things we learned
Most of our team's computers were incompatible with the Zepp simulator, so we had very limited ability to test our code. To get over this problem, we learned to divide the responsibility and do pair programming so that nobody was left without a job to do. Additionally, we had to creatively use the existing Zepp API features to approximated the features we wanted to use.
What's next for Life Watch
On a more serious note, we realized that this protocol could be used to bring accident detection features to the Zepp watch, which would help make the Zepp watch an even better choice for active people who like to go outdoors. In the future, we'd like to work with Zepp to expand the capability of the API to allow for more features like fall detection and automatic emergency calling.
