Wise Ways
After witnessing my grandfather's diagnosis with dementia, I observed his struggles in performing daily tasks, sometimes even forgetting whether he had taken his medicine. Over time, the disease progressed, and he began to struggle with recognizing us, revealing the true impact of dementia. As I closely monitored his health and researched how to best support patients like him, I conceived the idea to curate these insights into an app that could benefit all individuals facing the challenges of this disease.
What it Wise Ways?
We are proud to introduce 'Wise Ways,' an innovative app dedicated to assisting individuals diagnosed with dementia. This unique platform serves as a bridge between patients and compassionate volunteers. Volunteers can seamlessly access the patient's location, receiving notifications whenever they step out of their home. For enhanced performance, the app can be synchronized with a smartwatch.
Wise Ways offers a comprehensive set of features, including timely reminders for meals, medications, and important events. The personalized memory aid function is designed to trigger and cherish precious memories. The app also includes an emergency button, connecting users to local emergency services or designated contacts in critical situations.
To engage users cognitively, Wise Ways integrates simple yet engaging games, carefully crafted to stimulate cognitive functions. Additionally, the app assists users in planning and organizing their daily routines through visual schedules.
Our mission is to provide a holistic support system, ensuring the well-being and comfort of individuals navigating the challenges of dementia. Wise Ways is not just an app; it's a compassionate companion, enhancing the quality of life for those we care about
How we built it
At Wise Ways, our journey began with a profound commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals diagnosed with dementia. Extensive research was conducted, involving in-depth conversations with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. These valuable insights shaped the foundation of our app, ensuring it addresses the specific needs and concerns of both patients and their dedicated caregivers.
Through numerous brainstorming sessions, our development team collaborated to ideate innovative solutions. We focused on creating a user-friendly interface that fosters a seamless connection between patients and volunteers. The idea of real-time location tracking emerged as a key feature, enhancing safety and providing peace of mind to caregivers.
Engaging directly with patients allowed us to comprehend their daily struggles intimately. We discovered the importance of reminders for meals, medications, and events, as well as the significance of personalized memory aids to evoke cherished memories. The concept of integrating an emergency button was born out of a genuine concern for the well-being of our users in critical situations.
In parallel, conversations with caregivers illuminated the need for tools that not only support patients but also provide valuable assistance to those caring for them. We recognized the significance of visual schedules in helping users organize their daily routines, leading to a more structured and comforting experience.
The iterative development process has brought us to the exciting stage of prototyping. Wise Ways is now a tangible concept, embodying the collective efforts of a team dedicated to making a positive impact. As we progress through the prototype stage, we remain committed to refining and enhancing the app based on user feedback and evolving needs.
Wise Ways is not just an app in development; it's a testament to our dedication to improving the lives of those affected by dementia. We look forward to the day when Wise Ways becomes a transformative tool, providing support, comfort, and a sense of connection to those who need it most

What's next for Wise Ways
In the current phase of Wise Ways, where the app is undergoing prototyping, our focus lies on transitioning from conceptualization to actualization. We are diligently working on transforming the envisioned features into tangible functionalities, ensuring that Wise Ways becomes a reality. This critical phase involves coding, testing, and refining the app to meet the highest standards of usability and effectiveness. Our goal is to bring Wise Ways to life so that it can extend its reach and provide invaluable assistance to a broader audience of individuals in need. With each line of code and every testing iteration, we are inching closer to the realization of our mission – to make a positive impact on the lives of those diagnosed with dementia and their dedicated caregivers. The next steps involve continuous refinement, user testing, and feedback incorporation, laying the foundation for Wise Ways to become a powerful and compassionate tool in the realm of dementia care.
