The inspiration for HERMES was the greek god of travel and trade, Hermes. We all agreed that if humanity were to leave earth in search of a new home, there should be nothing less than a God to watch over us through this journey.
What it does
HERMES is an all-purpose system that takes care of inventory management, rationing, physical fitness and social interaction onboard the flight to Howel.
How we built it
We built this program using Unreal Engine.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a variety of challenges when creating HERMES. The main challenges were due to the constant crashing and freezing of unreal engines. There were two times that we had to restart a core part of the project from scratch because Unreal-Engine decided to crash without saving our data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an awesome logo, name and aesthetic. We are also proud of the functioning prototype we built that is both thematically consistent and able to demonstrate the fundamental functions of HERMES.
What we learned
We learnt a lot from HERMES, from how to effectively work as a team to how to use Unreal Engine effectively. Furthermore, our investigations helped us understand the biological aspects of calories and exercise.
What's next for H.E.R.M.E.S
The next step for HERMES is to flesh out the connection platform, integrate A. I technologies to analyze the large amount of data collected from the passengers and also automate the data collection so users don't have to input it every time.
