Inspiration:
we have noticed through our researches that the most critical problem is the problem of managing the crowds ! imagine over 2.3 million pilgrims in one single place and moving in the same time, that will cost us a lot of damage and injures. Also, most of the pilgrims are old and it's their first time in mecca that provides a lot of lost people.
what it does:
So we thought about a mobile application that can help them to stick together in groups and guide them to each other keeping them updated with the location of their teammates. this mobile application have two types of users : leaders and pilgrims (followers). the Leader could :
- tracking and exploring his group members.
- receive a notification in case that his pilgrim is out of the specified range giving him his coordinates.
- setting a meet point.
- check the hajj steps and the places according to the current place.
- explore and search for the movement of the other groups. the follower pilgrim could :
- receive a notification if he is out of the range of his leader and guide him to meet his leader.
- call for help
- check the hajj steps and the places according to the current place.
- receive a notification of a new meet point and guide him to it.
challenges we ran into:
Knowing that in the Hajj there are a lot of old people, and those last usually don't know how to use smartphones. Also, we could face some confidential issues because some users may not like the idea of tracking them and sticking with their team. Finally, it is a little bit difficult to make a good business plan for this application.
What's next for H-19 (stickandtruck):
Our vision is so big, we think that after 5 to 10 years of using this application and saving all the data and the trace of the crowd movements. we will be able using the deep learning technology to predict the behavior of the crowd and the groups, and deal with it before it happened.
