Inspiration
During the Hajj, there are a lot of difficulties faced by the Hajis and management. For management it is difficult to manage the huge number of Hajis when performing hajj, and for Hajis it is difficult for them to track their camps, loved ones (if they got lost somewhere) and other necessary places like toilets, medical camps etc. Not only this, it is difficult for Hajis to contact on emergency number (for eg police, ambulance, hospitals) if there is any emergency. Profile sharing of any relative Haji is not easy. To stream line these processes and to make things easy, we decided to provide solution to our respected Hajis with our idea.
What it does
Our goal is to make hajj experience as smooth as possible. Using Haji Radar app, haji's can easily locate camps, hospitals, hotels and their family members too. Core feature of Haji Radar app is to find your friends and family who are lost in the Hajj crowd. Our mobile app will show all your group members on map. It will also suggest feasible meeting points by taking in to account the direction of crowd, both members route or direction and will also show the estimated time of arrival of all members at the meeting point. Users of Haji Radar can easily contact hospitals, police, ambulance and concerned admin departments. In case if someone does not have smart phone, a smart band provided by saudi government will be used to track the group members. This smart band can also record and send heart beat and in any emergency situation medical report will be sent to concerned group leader or family members.
How we built it
There are two part of this application. One is mobile app called Haji Radar, it is built on IPhone platform and using different technologies like google maps. Another part is admin portal, admin portal will be managed by Hajj department. Information about camps and their location, hospitals, police, emergency numbers, ambulance will be maintained from admin portal by Hajj Admins. For admin portal, we have used python, Django, Tastypie, MongoDB and other libraries.
Challenges we ran into
Biggest challenge is to estimate the best meeting point between member A and member B, we have consider crowd, directions of both members and crowd. We have to design our algorithm in such away that it gives best possible route for all member of a group to find each other if they lost or separated out from the group.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For now, we are proud that our application is selected to be shown in hajj hackathon event.
What we learned
We learned how to use google maps apis and we also learned about heat maps.
What's next for H-056-Haji Radar
We will apply Artificial intelligence and machine learning to predict the crowd based on old data. It will help in crowd management and also help in selecting better meeting point for family and friends.
